Lameness
Lameness in your equine companion can be frustrating and difficult. At Commonwealth Equine, we have the knowledge and experience to get your athlete and companion back to doing what you both love to do.
Lameness examinations are thorough, detailed, and individualized to each horse and riding discipline. Evaluation of overall condition as well as a hands-on examination are performed in the standing horse. Moving evaluation on the lunge line or under saddle will then allow assessment of gait abnormalities and lameness. Further insight may be gained from flexion tests or diagnostic nerve blocks. Imaging (radiographs and ultrasound) can be performed on-site at the farm. Treatment plans will then be discussed with the horse's "team" before proceeding. Farrier consultations can be performed as needed. Radiographs can be emailed to your farrier for review as well.
